Fort Greene - Clinton Hill Neighborhood Information for Renters
|
East of Brooklyn Heights and Park Slope, you'll find Fort Greene, one of the oldest African-American neighborhoods in New York which was once a stop on the Underground Railroad. The soundtrack here is jazz because you can jam anyway you want; no pressure to be East Village hip or SoHo faux-boho. Fort Greene is full of musicians, dancers, artists and Spike Lee's film headquarters. The influence of BAM (Brooklyn Academy of Music) cannot be understated. Pratt Institute in Clinton Hill is equally significant as a neighborhood trendsetter. Students abound. You won't find a more widely integrated community both ethnically and economically in all of New York. The hardest part of living here is the lack of a direct line into Manhattan.
