From 1899 to 1908, this building was the world's tallest office tower with 29 stories. This beauty is part of what was called "Newspaper Row." There were once about 15 daily newspapers located downtown because the best sources for potential news, City Hall and Theater District, were downtown. The newspapers moved uptown when the Theater District moved to Broadway.
This building was designated a city landmark in 1999, and it was gut-renovated in 2000 and made into apartments. It features twin courtyards, which allow as much natural light into the building's interior as possible. |
