Can we boast about our NY Times mentions?

\"\"Twice within the past two months, the New York Times has talked with us. This is a very big deal for us or any online company, except perhaps the very largest companies.

Why is it so important? Because the world wide web is also the wild west web. It\’s hard to know who the real companies are, the reputable companies, on the web. Remember the old New Yorker cartoon showing a dog sitting at a computer, busy typing. The caption read, \”On the internet, nobody knows you\’re a dog.\”. And so it is with online apartment rental companies.

But when The NY Times is watching your company, and mentioning your work to the public, it shows you\’re doing something right. It shows that in the jungle of New York apartment rental companies, you stand out from the herd. Thank you, New York Times!

So what were the two mentions? The first was by Joyce Cohen, of \”The Hunt\” column. Published on April 14, 2010, she wrote An Apartment With Laundry on the Premises, a nice story about Samantha Slater\’s search for the right apartment – clean, convenient, and with a nice laundry.

The second mention of Rent-Direct.com / RDNY.com was published today, June 6, 2010. How to Be a Brainy Renter, by Marc Santora. It\’s a discussion of the marketplace at this critical moment when the balance of power seems to be shifting back to landlords after having been in the hands of renters for the past two years. Mr. Santora also discusses a few websites of value in making sense out of the current market. Naturally, Rent-Direct.com / RDNY.com is a features mention. Thanks Mr. Santora.
