Clason Point: Clason Point, in the 1800s, was a farm owned by Isaac Clason which became a working-class summer retreat late in the 1800s. It became a commuter community when the subway arrived along Westchester Ave in about 1920. It became known as "The Coney Island of the Bronx" for its beach clubs. Unfortunately, these all disappeared by the mid 1980s and have been replaced with public housing.
