Brooklyn Apartment Rental Info
Greenpoint (Brooklyn Apartments) Neighborhood Information for Apartment Renters
Greenpoint is the northern-most neighborhood in Brooklyn, just to the north of Williamsburg, and has great views of Manhattan. It has the quaint feel of a small town in Poland because of all the Polish-language food stores. Poles were the dominant ethnic group for generations, but Italians, Latinos, and a small enclave of Irish residents have integrated the community in the recent decades. Greenpoint was a ship-building site, where the Civil War "Monitor" and the WWII "Arizona" were built. Heavy industry has left the area, but light industries remain, like the Domino Sugar plant. There is only one subway line, the G, and it's not easy to navigate around the city from this neighborhood, so many residents tend to live and work in the area. This isolation has kept rents fairly low.
